President Tinubu Creates New Homeland Security Role, Names Adeyinka Famadewa.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed retired Major General Adeyinka Famadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security, creating the position for the first time at the federal level in Nigeria’s history.
The appointment is being viewed as part of ongoing efforts by the administration to strengthen national security coordination and improve responses to internal security challenges across the country.
As Special Adviser on Homeland Security, Famadewa is expected to work closely with security agencies and relevant government institutions on issues relating to internal stability, intelligence coordination, border protection, and public safety.
Major General Famadewa, a retired senior military officer, brings years of experience in defense and security operations to the newly established role.
The creation of the office highlights increasing government attention on domestic security concerns, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, cyber threats, and other emerging security challenges affecting different parts of the country.
Political observers and security analysts say the move could potentially improve collaboration between federal authorities and security institutions, though many Nigerians will be watching to see how effective the new office becomes in addressing real security issues.
The development has already sparked reactions nationwide, with supporters describing it as a proactive step toward strengthening national security architecture.
