Nigerian Senate Approves ₦2.2 Trillion FCT 2026 Budget.

The Nigerian Senate has approved a ₦2.2 trillion budget for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for the 2026 fiscal year.
The approved budget is expected to support key sectors within the Abuja, including infrastructure development, healthcare, education, transportation, and public services.
Lawmakers described the budget as part of broader efforts to improve the nation’s capital and accelerate ongoing development projects aimed at enhancing the living conditions of residents.
The approval comes amid increasing demands for better road networks, improved public facilities, housing expansion, and more efficient urban management within the Federal Capital Territory.
Analysts say the scale of the budget reflects the growing importance of Abuja as Nigeria’s administrative and economic hub, while also raising expectations regarding transparency, accountability, and effective implementation.
As implementation begins, many residents and observers will be watching closely to see how the allocated funds translate into visible development and improved public services across the FCT.
