DSTV Under Pressure as Senate Raises Concerns About Billing Practices.

The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on DStv to appear before the Senate over concerns surrounding its subscription and billing structure in Nigeria.
Speaking during a Senate session, Akpabio questioned why subscribers in South Africa reportedly enjoy a pay-per-view or more flexible billing system, while Nigerian customers continue to operate under a fixed subscription model.
According to him, many Nigerians feel disadvantaged by the current pricing structure, especially amid ongoing economic challenges and rising living costs.
The Senate President stated that the company must provide explanations regarding its operations and pricing differences, emphasizing the need for fairness and better consumer protection for Nigerian subscribers.
The issue of DSTV subscription costs has long been a subject of public debate in Nigeria, with many users criticizing frequent price increases and calling for a more flexible payment model.
Akpabio’s remarks have since sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians supporting the Senate’s move and demanding reforms within the pay-TV industry.
As discussions continue, attention is now focused on whether the Senate’s intervention will lead to policy changes or adjustments in subscription practices.
