BREAKING: Former Power Minister Saleh Mamman Sentenced to 75 Years Over ₦33.8bn Fraud

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years in prison over the misappropriation of public funds amounting to approximately ₦33.8 billion.
According to reports, the conviction followed a high-profile corruption trial involving allegations of diversion and laundering of funds linked to government projects during his time in office.
The case was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which accused the former minister of illegally handling billions of naira meant for public use.
The court reportedly found him guilty on multiple counts related to corruption, financial misconduct, and abuse of office, leading to the lengthy prison sentence.
The judgment has generated widespread reactions across Nigeria, with many citizens viewing it as a significant development in the country’s anti-corruption efforts.
Observers say the ruling could send a strong message regarding accountability in public office, especially amid continued concerns over corruption and misuse of government funds.
The case is expected to remain a major talking point within Nigeria’s political and legal landscape in the coming days.
