Anambra Governor Cracks Down on Alleged Fake Pastors and Bishops
The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has stirred reactions after issuing a strong warning to religious leaders accused of staging fake miracles and misleading members of the public.
Speaking during a public engagement, Soludo stated that authorities in the state had already arrested individuals allegedly posing as fake pastors and bishops. He further challenged clerics who claim to possess miraculous healing powers to demonstrate them at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku (Amaku Hospital).
According to the governor, anyone claiming the ability to perform miracles should prove such powers in a real medical environment where critically ill patients are receiving treatment.
The remarks have sparked widespread debate across religious and public circles, with some Nigerians applauding the governor’s stance against exploitation and alleged religious manipulation, while others argue that spiritual matters should not be subjected to political scrutiny.
Soludo’s comments come amid ongoing discussions in Nigeria about regulation, accountability, and ethical conduct within religious institutions.
The statement has continued to trend online, drawing mixed reactions from supporters, critics, and religious communities across the country.
